A fond memory of when Dad and Curt visited me in the Virgin Islands, racing around St. John and chasing double rainbows.

The last time Dad came down to visit me in the Virgin Islands he brought down his long-time friend and colleague Curt Helt.

One of the days we joined the "Around the Rocks Race," a sailboat race circumnavigating the entire island of St. John. It was a blast and we were neck and neck with the leading boats until we had a pully fail as we tacked up the narrows. Even so we had a great time completing the race and an even better time at the Banana Deck beach bar sharing a drink with our fellow competitors. Dad talked about sailing that race for years!

I took these photos the day after. Dad, Curt and I were driving back to my apartment when we saw the most incredible double rainbow at "Drake's Seat," a scenic lookout nearby. I come across these photos every so often and it always reminds me of that special trip.
