David was always gregarious, funny, brilliant and insightful. He woud come up with perceptive statements about things that left you thinking about them for days to come. Even as he dealt with his illness he retained his positive and often amusing perspective on life. His nieces and nephew were always happy to spend time with him, he had a joie di vivre that was unstoppable. He saw deep meanings in things that were ,to others unremarkable. Once I gave them a gift of beautiful wooden carved paper towel holder that was designed as an asparagus. His comment was " This is meaningful as we have a new home and asparagus takes years to grow properly so this is a sign that we are stting down deep roots" Guess it was the philosopher in him! He is deeply missed!
